love happy holidays....

So it's that time of year again. Family, presents and waaay too much food (Christmas isn't even here yet and I'm pretty sure I've already put on about five thousand kilos).

I have to say, without going all softie and blech, that this year has been pretty awesome. In fact, I can quite safely say that I couldn't possibly want for anything more right now. Life is good.

I'm off to take a well deserved break, as I hope you are, but will be back with loads more love in the new year. Have a divine Christmas, be safe and have super fantastic fun.

Miss Bonnie x

love poetry - sandcastles....

There were enough grains of sand in your bed
to make a sandcastle with a moat
on your floor amongst your cords and clothes
and songs
while you sing to me on the beach in the night
I run my fingers through broken glass
and broken hearts
while we sleep through the sound of the city waking
dreams collapse into granules of sugar
and bowls of water
and cold toes gripping on cold, tiled floors
shower, shower, shower
I'll rip a piece of your wallpaper for my own
it reminds me of a brothel with sinks and chandeliers
and I think you could fall in love with me a little
if you tried
on the bed next to the window with the neon star
and freedom written all over your face
you say "no one can be tied down"
but I tie you to the bedpost and sweep
sand from the sheets to the floor
for sandcastles and moats
and love and water
I think it's time for me to go home,
I have things to do.

love wardrobe wednesday - dec twenty second....

So! This will be my last WW for the year but I'll be back with more costume changes come 2011. I know for a fact I'm getting some super sweet threads for Chrimbo so I'll be cranking them for sure.

Wellington is still lacking in the weather stakes - it's humid as but rainy and yuck so fingers crossed it'll pull it's socks up before Xmas.

 Floral top | Mothercare
Cardy | Max
High waisted belt | Glassons
Polka dot zipper skirt | Cotton On

I used to be a big wearer of black but these days I do appreciate a good clash of patterns (as you can see).

You know what though? I want to see your WW's, so post in the comments below! I'll be back and ready for more awesome outfits the week of 10 Jan but if you'd prefer to keep rocking through the hols then go ahead and post, post, post!

So long for now my fiery fashionistas x

21.12.10

love beanwear....

Beanwear. Now that you've digested the awesome name, these threads are the most adorable, funky and not to mention cheap (!!) kids clothes I've seen in a while.

George (a friend of a friend) recently went to India and had a whole bunch of baby and toddler threads made after feeling slightly put off by the huge price tags on NZ kiddies clothes.

I'm in love with them (particularly the Ali Baba pants) and I think you will be too. So check them out on Trade Me here and pick up some unique and utterly gorgeous threads for your (or someone elses) wee one!

20.12.10

love daphne....

There's a house just down the road from us that has the most enormous daphne plant I have ever seen. I go out of my way to walk past there veeeery slowly when I take Little Red on his daily buggy trek.

I aim to have my own daphne plant in my own garden that is bigger than any daphne plant ever known to man and I shall sit in front of it day in and day out and smell it until I die.

That is all.

18.12.10

love "calming the baby beast"....

Florence and the Machine. I don't know about you, but I luuuuurve them. Dog Days Are Over is a great song and I happily have a wee dance with Little Red to it most days.

Having said that though, I don't think I quite have the energy nor the excitement that this kid has when listening to the tune.

This is my love of the day because, well, it's just totally awesome.

17.12.10

love bubble wrap....

Whenever I get a package I secretly hope that there's bubble wrap inside it.

Bubble wrap is really good for keeping fragile things happy and safe but more importantly, it is even better for popping. It is the only thing in this world that guarantees my sanity remains 100% intact when I feel like crap.

Today we received a big fat courier and I was like a cat to catnip when I spotted a sheet of bubble wrap as big as our lounge rug (I didn't even notice what the parcel was). Needless to say I got popping and uber zen.

16.12.10

love sleeping babies....

There's nothing more cute, more relieving or more musical to the ears than a sleeping baby. Particularly mine seeing as though he is to sleeping during the day what a big fat t-bone is to a staunch vegetarian.

I like to watch him sleep. It makes me happy to know that I had something (half, to be exact) to do with making a wee bub as poppety as this one. Sometimes it makes me so happy that I want to wake him up and cuddle him.

But I know all too well what side my bread's buttered on so I don't.

15.12.10

love wardrobe wednesday - dec fifteenth....

Ooh! My first WW as a host! If you're still catching up on the latest developments you can see an update here and the new page here. And don't forget to post your WW in the comments below!

As you can see by my get-up, the weather in Wellington is still rubbish. Hmpf. And apologies for the creative take on the pics, I had no one to take full length photos! I promise better ones next week.

Baggy tee | Glassons
Floral cardy | Cotton On
Grey blazer | Vintage
Scarf | Gift from Thailand

Skinny jeans | Lee
Flats | Country Road

And accessorizing with my fave earrings | Indeja

And there we are, folks! I want to see your WW's so post 'em down below x

14.12.10

love wilco....

If you've never listened to Wilco before I reckon you should hop on your metaphorical computer bike and make your way to the nearest iTunes store to indulge in their laid back, unique and absolutely stunning sound.

Now I am slightly biased considering I have a whopping crush on Jeff Tweedy (don't ask me why, he just does something to me) but they've been tantalising my ear drums for over ten years now and I don't think I've ever fallen out of love in the slightest.

Here's a little taster for you of the great Wilco (something to get your summer vibes tingling). Enjoy!

13.12.10

love sunshine....

Sunshine is pretty cool (as is my awesome illustration of one in Paint - I am a true artiste). And as much as I cringe with cliche-ness when I hear someone chortle "You can't beat Wellington on a good day", they're right.

The sun is as epic as a Michael Bay film today (in a good way, though. Not a hugely over the top, badly acted, abysmally scripted way) and it's making life beautifully sugar sweet.

On goes the sunblock - yum, smells of summer! - out come the jandals and town, town here I come! Even the hordes of people (I'm as much a fan of crowds as I am of Michael Bay) won't stop me enjoying my sun infused Christmas shopping today. Yippee!

12.12.10

love cider....

Cider is delicious. I love all kinds of cider. There's nothing awesomer than an ice cold cider on a hot day. Or an ice cold cider on a hot evening. Or an ice cold cider at any point in time whether it be day, night, hot or cold.

I heart perry (thanks muffinmum for the correction!) and am face over butt for the new Monteith's brew (NB. This isn't a plug but it is simply delish) so I highly recommend you go out and score yourself some if you haven't already.

It's summer people! Let's crank some cider and get happy!

11.12.10

love the fam bam....

I know. I've totally upped the cheese factor with this one (and it's so not original) but my sister and teeny nephew just arrived all the way from the UK for Christmas and we're all pumped about it.

I'm pretty sure I haven't been this excited about Christmas this much since I was eight.

And when it comes down to it, you can all agree right? Family (whether it's blood or honorary) is pretty freaking cool.

10.12.10

love marcel the shell....

I was introduced to this little guy via Twitter and I have fallen head over heels.

In fact, I can quite safely say that he made my day and therefore, I think it's only fair that he take precedence as my first ever love of the day. I have no doubt you'll agree once you watch this.

A warning though, be prepared for cuteness so enormous your insides overheat and your chest explodes with fuzzies.

9.12.10

love new things....

So I'm trying a little something new.

I adore writing on The Baby Bump but thought I might get away from the babybabybaby of it all - hence the beginning of this blog!

I was having a little think the other day about the loveliness of life, yet I'm (sometimes) prone to taking it for granted. Aren't we all? So, what better way to learn to appreciate the little things than to find something each day and write about it?

Every twenty four hours I'm going to pick my love of the day and, in the process, find beauty in the teeny tiny things that sometimes pass us by....
